The Binutils package contains a linker, an assembler, and other tools for handling object files.
Create a separate build directory again:
mkdir -v build cd build
Prepare Binutils for compilation:
../configure \ --prefix=/usr \ --build=$(../config.guess) \ --host=$LFS_TGT \ --disable-nls \ --enable-shared \ --disable-werror \ --enable-64-bit-bfd
The meaning of the new configure options:
--enable-shared
Builds libbfd
as a shared
library.
--enable-64-bit-bfd
Enables 64-bit support (on hosts with narrower word sizes). May not be needed on 64-bit systems, but does no harm.
Compile the package:
make
Install the package:
make DESTDIR=$LFS install
